Under general direction, the purpose of the position is to provide architectural and urban design support for City projects and development proposals in support of the City’s Vision. Employees in this classification are responsible for preparing and reviewing design plans, developing architectural guidelines and standards, and providing recommendations to improve implementation of City projects. Objective is to support aesthetic improvements to public and private properties through application of the Land Development Code, Architectural Guidelines, and applicable zoning and code regulations.
Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning or related field. One (1) to two (2) years of experience as an architect and in urban design. Licensed architect, registered in the State of Florida, is required. AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) is preferred.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
