Well Done designs high-end luxury homes throughout Coastal Orange County. Our team works closely with clients, consultants, engineers, and internal project teams to turn strong design ideas into beautiful, buildable residential projects.
We are looking for someone who brings creativity, accuracy, technical confidence, and strong communication to the design process. This role is ideal for a residential design professional who understands both the creative and practical sides of custom home design.
Position Overview
The Architectural Project Designer & Coordinator plays a key role in turning client visions into beautiful, buildable realities. This role spans concept design, technical documentation, Revit modeling, permitting coordination, and internal project support.
The right candidate is confident, precise, solutions-oriented, and able to balance design sensibility with technical accuracy. This person should understand residential architecture, California building codes, documentation standards, and the importance of clear client communication.
Responsibilities
Architectural Design Process
- Participate in pre-design meetings and help translate client vision into actionable design concepts
- Develop early-phase conceptual models in Revit, prioritizing both form and function
- Support all phases of design development
- Help ensure design work aligns with project goals, timelines, documentation standards, and client expectations
- Bring creative thinking and practical construction awareness to residential design challenges
Technical Documentation and Submittals
- Produce accurate construction documents, including architectural drawings, Title 24 documentation, and engineering coordination items
- Handle city submittals in person and online
- Ensure submittals meet jurisdictional requirements
- Coordinate plan check responses, revisions, and updates with consultants and engineers
- Maintain technical accuracy throughout the documentation and permitting process
Client Experience
- Communicate clearly, confidently, and respectfully with clients throughout the design process
- Represent the Well Done standard of professionalism in deliverables, meetings, and written communication
- Help clients understand design progress, next steps, and documentation needs
- Support a high-quality client experience from concept through permitting coordination
Design Coordination and Internal Support
- Collaborate with the internal team to track action items and maintain project momentum
- Support alignment with internal standards, SOPs, and design workflows
- Contribute to process improvements that help the design team work more efficiently
- Occasionally support internal or client-facing design presentations
- Coordinate with project, design, engineering, and permitting stakeholders as needed
Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience in residential architecture, engineering, or design-build environments
- Advanced proficiency in Revit, including modeling, documentation, and coordination workflows
- Strong knowledge of California building codes, permitting, and residential submittal processes
- Ability to balance design creativity with technical execution
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Clear communication skills for client, consultant, and internal team coordination
- Ability to manage multiple project priorities in an in-office, team-based environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related field
- Experience working on high-end custom residential projects
- Experience with Coastal or Southern California residential design
- Familiarity with residential permit processes and city coordination
- Working knowledge of BuilderTrend, Bluebeam, or similar design and project management platforms
- Strong graphic presentation skills, including renderings, diagrams, or client-facing visuals
- Passion for residential architecture, creative design, and delivering a best-in-class client experience
