Architecture & Interior Design CTE Teacher
This position will teach Principles of Architecture, Architecture I & II, Interior Design I & II, and Practicum of Architecture. The ideal candidate should possess a Family and Consumer Sciences Certification.
Primary Purpose:
The teacher will provide students with relevant learning experiences and activities in the assigned subject area, helping them achieve their academic, emotional, physical, and social potential. The goal is to support students in developing essential skills to succeed in society.
Education / Certification:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is preferred.
- A valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the assigned subject and grade level.
- Proven expertise in the relevant career and technical education area.
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Strong knowledge of the CTE content area and preferred industry experience.
- Familiarity with CTE Programs of Study and Industry-Based Certifications.
- A general understanding of curriculum development and instructional strategies.
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience / Other Requirements:
- At least one year of student teaching or an approved internship experience.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies:
- Develop and implement lesson plans in alignment with district curriculum requirements, providing written evidence of preparation as needed.
- Create lessons that accommodate various student learning styles.
- Present content following the guidelines of the Texas Education Agency, district policies, and administrative procedures.
- Plan and utilize appropriate instructional methods, materials, and equipment tailored to students’ needs.
- Assess student learning styles and adjust instructional activities accordingly.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to adapt curriculum for students with special needs, following Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Work with colleagues to establish instructional goals, objectives, and strategies as per district standards.
- Supervise and guide teacher aides and volunteers in classroom activities.
- Integrate technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
Student Growth and Development:
- Assist students in evaluating and improving their study habits and methods.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student performance through formal and informal testing.
- Take responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved activities outside of class time.
- Serve as a positive role model and support the mission of the school district.
Classroom Management and Organization:
- Foster a classroom environment conducive to learning and suitable for students’ social, emotional, and physical development.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and school policies.
- Ensure the safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities by taking necessary precautions.
- Assist in the selection of instructional resources, materials, and equipment.
Communication:
- Maintain open communication with parents, students, administrators, colleagues, and the community.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with students, parents, fellow educators, and community members.
