Description
The City of Springfield is seeking an Associate City Planner to join a strong and dedicated team. Our current vacancy is in the Planning and Zoning office and the Development Review Office.
The Planning and Zoning Office is a division within the Planning & Development Department. This division is dedicated to carrying out planning and neighborhood revitalization activities for the entire City, that focus on implementation of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. This position will provide support to the Planning & Zoning Commission, community organizations, and collaboratives for neighborhood and comprehensive planning related projects.
The Development Review Office is a division within the Planning & Development Department responsible for assisting customers to comply with the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations through managing the review process. The division also provides staff support to three City Council-appointed boards and commissions: the Planning & Zoning Commission (development review applications), the Board of Adjustment (for code interpretations and variances) and the Landmarks Board (reviews applications for historic properties). This position will assist in zoning cases, short-term-rental applications, pre-development review, staff report writing, administrative subdivisions and customer support.

Qualifications and Requirements
Associate City Planner:
Experience, Education, and Training
- Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with specialization in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration or a related field;
AND
- At least one year of appropriate experience.
- A Master's Degree may be substituted for the required experience.
- Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the formal education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing/Certification
Assistant City Planner:
Experience, Education, and Training
- Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or a related field.
- Directly related experience can be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Salary: $39,208.00 - $61,006.40 Annually
