The Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction activities for airport capital improvement projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory, operational, and security requirements. Projects may occur in Landside or Airside (AOA) environments, requiring close coordination with airport operations, tenants, airlines, regulators, and safety/security teams to maintain uninterrupted airport operations. Construction Management level will be determined based on experience, complexity of assignments, and demonstrated leadership capability.
Responsibilities
- Manage construction activities from pre‑construction through closeout
- Provide on‑site oversight to ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards
- Monitor construction progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain schedule and operational continuity
- Review contractor schedules, submittals, RFIs, cost proposals, change requests, and pay applications
- Perform regular site inspections and document field observations, deficiencies, and corrective actions
- Track budgets, quantities, and forecast cost and schedule impacts
- Evaluate and negotiate change orders and claims, escalating complex issues as appropriate
- Coordinate schedule phasing to minimize impacts to airport, airline, tenant, and public operations
- Support or lead construction risk assessments and constructability reviews
- Coordinate construction activities with airport operations, maintenance, safety, security, airlines, tenants, FAA, TSA, and other regulatory agencies
- Participate in and/or lead construction meetings, operational coordination meetings, and safety briefings
- Prepare and present regular progress reports and briefings to project teams and airport leadership
- Ensure construction sequencing, access, and work hours align with operational requirements
Landside Project Responsibilities (as Assigned)
- Terminal renovations, expansions, and tenant improvements
- Parking structures, surface lots, curbside frontage, and pedestrian improvements
- Landside roadway circulation, utilities, and support infrastructure
Airside Project Responsibilities (as Assigned):
- Projects within the AOA, including airfield pavements, ramps, aprons, taxi lanes, and hangars
- Coordinate NOTAMs, airfield closures, and work windows with Airport Operations and FAA coordination
- Ensure compliance with airfield safety, access control, and escort requirements
- Manage construction in high‑risk, safety‑critical environments with limited operational windows
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience
- 5 to 20+ years of experience delivering aviation‑related construction projects, with experience level aligned to position classification
- OSHA 30 certification required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
- Professional certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP), or comparable credential preferred, particularly for senior‑level roles
- Ability to successfully obtain and maintain an airport security badge and Air Operations Area (AOA) access, as required
- Willingness and ability to work night, weekend, or off‑peak hours as necessary to support airport operational requirements
The salary range for this position is $145,000 - $230,000. The offered salary will be based on the applicants qualifications, education, experience and work location.
