A growing engineering and construction business is seeking a driven and ambitious Project / Construction Manager to join its team. This opportunity is ideally suited to a young professional looking to accelerate their career within a fast-paced project environment, working across multiple construction and infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and overseeing projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Coordination

  • Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, and material requirements across projects.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Liaise with design, procurement, and operational teams to ensure project alignment.

Construction Management

  • Oversee daily site activities across multiple projects.
  • Ensure work is executed according to drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel.
  • Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Resolve technical, operational, and logistical challenges on site.

Project Management

  • Manage projects through all phases, from initiation to handover.
  • Monitor project progress and report on milestones and deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Assist with budgeting, procurement planning, and cost control.
  • Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor performance.
  • Support efficient allocation and utilization of project resources.

Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead project teams and foster a collaborative working environment.
  • Coordinate activities between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Assist in resolving project-related disputes and challenges.

Minimum Requirements

  • BEng, BSc, National Diploma, BTech, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering, renewable energy, or project management environments.
  • Exposure to site-based project execution and contractor management.
  • Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Legally authorised to work in South Africa.

Advantageous

  • Experience within renewable energy or Solar PV projects.
  • Exposure to EPC, civil construction, infrastructure, mining, or industrial projects.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and reporting tools.
