Your day as a Construction Manager

As a new Construction Manager at Timberlyne, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on-site, ensuring that projects stay on schedule and within budget. You'll coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers, facilitating effective communication to streamline workflows and tackle any challenges that arise. Daily site inspections will be a routine part of your schedule, allowing you to monitor progress, enforce safety standards, and ensure quality control. You'll actively participate in project planning meetings, helping to establish timelines and assigning tasks to team members. Collaboration will be key as you work closely with architects, engineers, and clients, ensuring that everyone is aligned and informed.

Additionally, you will maintain accurate records and reports, assessing project milestones and addressing any delays with proactive solutions. Your leadership will inspire those around you to strive for excellence in every aspect of the construction process.

Requirements for this Construction Manager job

To thrive as a Construction Manager at Timberlyne, you'll need a robust blend of technical skills and personal attributes. A degree in construction management is preferred, along with a solid understanding of timber framing techniques like post and beam and mortise and tenon joinery. Proficiency in construction software such as Bluebeam, Procore, and Buildertrend is essential, as well as the ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints used in the timber industry. An in-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards is crucial, as you'll be responsible for training personnel on best practices. Strong organizational skills and time management abilities will help you juggle multiple projects efficiently, while critical thinking and problem-solving skills will allow you to navigate challenges effectively.

Excellent communication abilities are a must, enabling you to engage stakeholders in meaningful conversations and foster collaboration. Emotional intelligence, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, will further enhance your capacity to lead and inspire your team.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• The CM needs to have knowledge of timber framing construction techniques that involve post and beam and mortise and tenon joinery, mass timber and other hybrid systems. A degree in construction management is preferred for this position.
• Must have knowledge in reading and interpreting drawings blueprints and/or other schematics that are used in the commercial and residential timber industry. Be proficient in construction software such as bluebeam, procore, buildertrend, etc.
• The CM must have a strong understanding of OSHA regulations (1926) and other safety rules and regulations. Be able to train and influence personnel in all aspects of construction including safety quality and construction techniques as outlined in this job description.
• The CM needs to understand the construction project management scheduling and budgeting. The CM should have a basic understanding of business acumen and understand variables and the impact of those variables.
• Critical thinking skills and understanding unintended consequences on decision making are imperative in this position. Be able to handle multiple projects and to determine priorities within those projects. Be able to provide solutions to internal/external stakeholders.
• The CM must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Be able to handle administrative tasks in a timely manner and know when to delegate tasks.
• The CM must have excellent communication skills including the ability to have difficult and adaptive conversations with stakeholders and customers. Be proactive in communication and have the ability to influence others for win-win solutions maintain self-confidence and show empathy.
• The CM must demonstrate strong emotional intelligence that includes self-awareness, self-regulations and understanding of what motivates other people and how to collaborate cooperatively with the team/stakeholders.
• The CM must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 products and be able to provide effective presentations skills to employees and/or all stakeholders
