Our team includes experienced project managers, commissioning experts, and construction specialists who work collaboratively to execute complex data center builds—ensuring OCI data centers meet the highest standards of safety, quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager – AI Data Center Infrastructure (Construction) to lead and oversee colocation-delivered construction in Johor, Malaysia. This role is accountable for site execution, schedule certainty, quality outcomes, and readiness for commissioning and handover across high-density, AI-ready data center environments. You will manage multi-trade contractors and specialist vendors, while integrating base building delivery with tenant fit-out requirements and network readiness dependencies.
Key Responsibilities

Construction Leadership (AI / High-Density): Lead site-based delivery of AI data center infrastructure including base building, MEP, white space readiness, containment, and enabling works.

Colocation Provider Oversight: Direct and govern colocation provider execution to ensure work is delivered to OCI standards, with strong accountability for schedule, quality, and coordination.

Schedule & Milestone Control: Drive short-interval planning, look-aheads, constraint removal, and recovery actions to protect critical dates and readiness gates.

Independent Risk Evaluation: Independently assess delivery plans and actual progress to identify risk early, close gaps in mitigations, and clearly communicate potential business impacts.

Tenant Fit-Out & Network Readiness Integration: Coordinate interfaces across design, construction, and commissioning to ensure base building delivery supports tenant fit-out and network deployment readiness (space, power, cooling, cable routes, access windows, cleanliness).

Quality Assurance & Closeout: Own QA/QC execution including ITPs, inspections, NCRs, corrective actions, punch lists, progressive turnover, and closeout discipline.

Design & Change Coordination: Ensure construction aligns to approved design intent; support disciplined change control, field clarifications, and document governance.

Safety & Compliance: Lead safety performance and compliance with local regulations, codes, standards, and OCI requirements; drive audits, incident learnings, and corrective actions.

Vendor & Performance Management: Manage contractor and vendor performance, ensure scope compliance, and provide structured provider evaluation inputs for continuous improvement.

Reporting & Stakeholder Management: Run site cadence (daily/weekly), provide executive-ready updates, maintain action/issue registers, and escalate blockers quickly.

Site Presence: Regular site visits and strong on-the-ground leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Skills & Experience

Deep data center construction knowledge: Strong expertise across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing in mission-critical environments.

Lifecycle delivery experience: Proven capability through mobilization, construction, commissioning readiness, and turnover/handover.

High accountability leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead under pressure, drive delivery discipline, and mentor teams while holding vendors accountable.

Risk & problem solving: Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills in fast-paced, high-dependency construction environments.

Commercial awareness: Experience supporting contract administration inputs (variations, claims, EOTs, progress validation) with clear records and evidence.

Tools & systems: Strong reporting capability and familiarity with document/project platforms such as Aconex, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, SharePoint, or similar.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

10+ years experience in data center and/or colocation construction, gained with a GC, colocation provider, or hyperscaler.
- Proven track record delivering large-scale construction outcomes across schedule, quality, safety, and stakeholder expectations.
