Construction Manager

About Us

The T.E.A. Center (Transformational Education Adventure Center)—a state-of-the-art early childhood and leadership education campus currently under construction in McLean, VA. The facility will feature innovative learning environments, nature-based outdoor areas, and sustainable building design to serve children from infancy through school age.

We are seeking a hands-on Construction Manager to oversee all aspects of the new campus build out — from permitting and site development to interior finishes and final inspections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of construction from groundbreaking to occupancy.

  • Oversee general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure quality workmanship, adherence to schedule, and budget control.

  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, inspectors, and county officials on site plans, utilities, and code compliance.

  • Track progress through daily site visits, schedule reviews, and progress reports.

  • Manage draw requests, change orders, and SBA documentation.

  • Ensure safety, environmental, and compliance standards are maintained on-site.

  • Review and approve invoices, purchase orders, and materials.

  • Maintain communication with ownership  on milestones, issues, and deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of construction management or project supervision experience (educational, commercial, or mixed-use preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of site development, MEP coordination, and finish-level detail.

  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, and contracts.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Proficiency with project management tools (Procore, MS Project, or similar).

  • Familiarity with local permitting and building codes in Fairfax County a plus.
