Wood is seeking expression of interest for a Construction Manager to support a multiyear WA based project.  The role will primarily Perth based with regular visits to site This is a permanent role and is available as a full-time / part-time (job share) basis.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Function, you will be responsible for:

Construction & Site Execution

  • Lead and manage all onsite construction activities in accordance with the approved Project Execution Plan
  • Ensure construction is delivered safely, to scope, specification, schedule, and budget
  • Provide visible, strong HSE leadership, ensuring compliance with Wood, client, and statutory safety requirements
  • Manage day-to-day site operations, logistics, interfaces, and construction sequencing across multiple work fronts

Contractor & Workforce Management

  • Lead, coordinate, and manage EPC/EPCM contractors, subcontractors, and direct hire workforces
  • Ensure contractor performance aligns with schedule, quality, safety, and commercial expectations
  • Chair site coordination meetings, toolbox talks, and construction reviews
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing site culture

Schedule, Cost & Risk Control

  • Drive schedule certainty through effective planning, progress tracking, and mitigation of construction risks
  • Monitor construction productivity, cost performance, and forecast requirements
  • Support cash flow management and cost-to-complete forecasting in conjunction with Project Controls
  • Identify, assess, and manage construction-related risks, opportunities, and change events

Quality, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure construction quality meets design intent, specifications, and applicable standards
  • Oversee inspections, testing, punch listing, and handover activities
  • Ensure site documentation, reporting, and governance requirements are maintained and audited
  • Enforce adherence to corporate policies, procedures, and best practices

Stakeholder & Interface Management

  • Act as Wood’s primary onsite representative with the client, contractors, and regulators
  • Build strong working relationships with site stakeholders and resolve issues proactively
  • Provide accurate, timely reporting on construction progress, risks, and performance

Expected:

You will be an Australian citizen or be eligible to hold Permanent Residency (PR) to work lawfully in Australia. 



Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Formal construction or project management certification (e.g. PMP, AIPM, or equivalent) preferred

Knowledge, skills and experience: 

15+ years of relevant industry experience, including at least 10 years in site-based construction leadership roles

  • Proven delivery of large-scale, complex construction projects within Resources, and Energy sectors
  • Strong leadership experience managing large multidisciplinary and multicultural site teams
  • Excellent understanding of construction sequencing, constructability, and execution strategies
  • Deep knowledge of HSE systems and a demonstrated track record of safety leadership
  • Strong commercial acumen, including contract administration, variations, claims, and negotiations
  • Experience managing multiple contractors and vendors across varied work scopes
  • Demonstrated ability to recover schedule, productivity, or cost underperforming work packages
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Desirable:

What will set you apart will be your proven experience success at delivering a schedule driven project in a similar Construction Manager role within the Western Australian Resources / Energy sector.  Relevant exposure to major process plant project delivery in remote locations will also be advantageous.
