This project involved providing construction management services for a design-build elevator modernization at the U.S. Post Office and Courthouse, located at 11 Elmwood Avenue, Burlington, Vermont. The scope included a comprehensive upgrade to the elevator systems to improve safety, functionality, and code compliance. Key improvements encompassed the installation of a new machine pedestal, governor, and controllers; modernization of electrical wiring; application of new floor coating and paint; implementation of fire code upgrades; and installation of new fencing equipment, HVAC systems, wire ropes, and lighting. Additional enhancements included the removal of outdated sprinklers, installation of new hoistway traveler cables, pit ladders, car top door operators, rollers, fans, and counterweight guides. Elevator cabs were upgraded with new tracks, locks, hangers, and closers, while entrance frames, call buttons, and corridor direction lanterns were replaced. Emergency lighting and power systems were also updated, with modifications made to access hatches to ensure maintainability. The modernization significantly improved the building's vertical transportation infrastructure within this secure federal facility.

Job Duties:

  • Maintains liaison with the Owner�s representative; attends or conducts necessary meetings and keeps the Owner informed of construction progress, issues, and proposed resolutions.
  • Coordinate design activities with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment with project requirements and GSA standards.
  • Facilitate communication between design team, client, and contractors.
  • Manage contractor in accordance with APSI�s standard GSA Project Management Plan.
  • Conduct and lead project meetings.
  • Maintain photo documentation of construction progress.
  • Perform regular quality inspections.
  • Provide safety oversight and enforce compliance.
  • Conduct labor compliance reviews.
  • Review and process pay applications.
  • Track and process Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Manage submittal processing and tracking.
  • Prepare and submit monthly project reports.
  • Control and process changes to scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Coordinate building access and planned utility shutdowns.
  • Ensure adherence to tenant move schedules.
  • Coordinate and manage after-hours work as needed.
  • Manage and/or perform Substantial Completion (SC) and Final Completion (FC) punch list inspections.
  • Execute comprehensive project closeout procedures

Required Qualifications (Experience, Education, Certifications, Clearances, etc.):

  • 4-year Bachelor�s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 5 years of relevant construction experience
  • Good organization and communication skills
  • Able to obtain a HSPD-Clearance.

  • Construction Management Experience
