The Government/Healthcare Project Architect will be responsible for efficiently and effectively managing, designing, and delivering successful building projects through a pro-active delivery process with in-house staff or outside AEC team members and according to office standards and processes. These projects are specific to classified government entities as well as government healthcare entities. Responsibilities include involvement from conceptual design through construction on projects, reviewing shop drawings and related submittals, coordinating consultants in all phases, and directing the production of projects. Essential responsibilities include:
- Lead competition-based government project pursuits with expedited delivery process.
- Support, direct, and mentor staff within a team building atmosphere where personal agendas and preferences are to be set aside and all team members are to effectively work together for what is determined to be best for the company, client, and project.
- Collaboratively work with consultants, contractors, and owners in a pro-active integrated project delivery process throughout all project phases including design, construction, and post-occupancy to achieve client, project, and internal office project goals.
- Focus on client satisfaction and creating their interest in our providing them with additional future project-related services.
- Coordinate and monitor the activities of project personnel, ensuring individual job assignments are achieved in support of project requirements.
- Maintain an awareness of the scope, schedule, budget, and status of all assigned projects.
- Develop and maintain client confidence in our staff and operations by maintaining a high level of professionalism, accountability, and performance.
- Coordinate and lead project meetings involving Client, contractor, and entire design team.
- Conduct architectural studies, develop design concepts, and design criteria, and prepare reports, calculations, and detailed design and construction documents.
- Conduct preliminary field surveys, develop designs, and draft preliminary plans for the project.
- Assist in developing statements of probable cost and analyze against project budget.
- Attend preconstruction and bid meetings with contractors and vendors, and issue progress observation reports.
- Participate in the presentation of plans and documents to governing and permitting authorities for land use, zoning, and permit approvals.
- Observe the inspection of construction projects while in progress and upon completion for adherence to plans and specifications; advise contractors on the interpretation of the plans and specifications.
- Prepare material, write construction specifications, and prepare detailed construction documents.
- Ensure quality assurance program is initiated and adhered to throughout project timeline.

Requirements: Government/Healthcare Project Architect needed by Hoefer Welker, LLC at headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri.
Education & Experience: Requires Master’s Degree in Architecture. At least 60 months experience in architectural practice required. The 60 months experience must include: at least 36 months experience with government or healthcare projects; at least 36 months leading a competition-based government-project pursuit team with expedited delivery process; at least 24 months of construction administration experience.
Required Skills: Advanced/expert level knowledge of drafting software including AutoCAD, Sketchup and REVIT as well as graphic software including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. Must have a deep understanding of building materials and methods as well as building codes and regulations.
Required Certifications/Registrations: Must be a registered and licensed architect in one of 55 United States jurisdictions. NCARB registration and certification required.
Travel: Travel of up to 20 days per year will be required. Travel will be to locations within the United States where ongoing projects are located.
Salary: $110,000 - $120,000
Hours: Full time; M-F 8:30am-5:30pm
