Overall Responsibilities:

We are seeking a licensed Project Architect / Project Manager to lead projects from early design through construction administration. This individual will serve as both a technical leader and project manager, guiding multidisciplinary teams while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with client goals.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable leading technical documentation, coordinating consultants, mentoring project teams, and managing client relationships throughout all phases of project delivery.

Project Leadership

  • Lead architectural projects through all phases of design and construction.

  • Manage project scope, budget, schedule, staffing, and overall project performance.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout project development.

  • Collaborate closely with firm leadership, consultants, and internal teams to successfully deliver projects.

  • Understand client objectives, standards, approval processes, and regulatory requirements.

  • Communicate project expectations, milestones, and responsibilities to project teams and consultants.

  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and at the firm's quality standards.

Technical Leadership

  • Lead the technical development and refinement of projects from schematic design through construction.

  • Produce and oversee high-quality construction documents that accurately reflect the design intent.

  • Coordinate architectural, structural, MEP, and consultant disciplines throughout project development.

  • Apply strong knowledge of building systems, construction methods, detailing, materials, and specifications.

  • Maintain project documentation, technical decisions, and project manuals throughout each phase.

  • Ensure project documentation complies with applicable building codes, accessibility standards, and client requirements.

  • Review drawings for quality control and technical accuracy.

Project Management

  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and work plans.

  • Monitor project financial performance, profitability, and project backlog.

  • Coordinate consultant contracts, additional services, and project agreements.

  • Assist with fee proposals, scope development, and project planning.

  • Identify project risks and proactively develop solutions.

  • Keep clients informed of project progress while managing expectations and resolving issues as they arise.

Design & Client Coordination

  • Collaborate with design leadership to ensure design intent is maintained throughout documentation and construction.

  • Lead programming efforts by documenting owner and user requirements.

  • Participate in project presentations and client meetings.

  • Coordinate project approvals with public agencies and authorities having jurisdiction.

  • Represent clients during permitting and agency review processes when required.

Construction Administration

  • Lead construction administration activities including:

    • RFIs

    • Submittals

    • ASIs

    • Change Orders

    • Field observations

    • Punch lists

    • Project closeout

  • Conduct regular site visits and prepare observation reports.

  • Coordinate Certificates of Occupancy and Substantial Completion documentation.

  • Support projects through bidding and construction until successful completion.

Technical Leadership

  • Coordinate architectural and engineering disciplines throughout project development.

  • Apply knowledge of building systems, construction methods, materials, and specifications.

  • Oversee the development and coordination of construction documents.

  • Ensure project documentation meets firm quality standards and client expectations.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor and support architects and designers throughout project development.

  • Coordinate project staffing and resource allocation.

  • Foster collaboration among internal teams and consultants.

  • Participate in staff development and performance discussions.

  • Promote design excellence while maintaining technical quality.

 

Requirements
  • Approximately 10 years of architectural experience or more, including project management on increasingly complex projects.

  • Multi-Family Type V construction experience required.

  • Professional degree in Architecture or equivalent experience.

  • Licensed Architect required (California license highly desirable).

  • Revit experience required.

  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience leading projects through all phases of design and construction.

  • Strong background in construction documentation, consultant coordination, and construction administration.

  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, staffing, and client relationships.

  • Thorough knowledge of California building codes, accessibility requirements, and permitting processes.

  • Experience preparing project proposals, fee estimates, and client presentations.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
