Senior Construction Manager -  Nalunaq Gold Mine, Southern Greenland

An exciting opportunity exists to join the construction team delivering the final stages of the Nalunaq Gold Mine in Southern Greenland

The project is entering its final construction phase, and we are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to work on a back-to-back rotation with our existing Construction Manager. The successful candidate will take responsibility for coordinating and managing the civil and piping contractors as they complete several remaining work packages.
Although the site is located in remote Southern Greenland and accessed by helicopter, the climate is milder than many people expect. The area is snow-free for much of the year and offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate civil and piping contractors to safely complete remaining construction activities.
  • Managing the contractors by overseeing the completion of:
    • Small earthworks: construction of earth berms, pad levelling, aggregate production rom quarry,
    • Civil foundations and slabs,
    • Fire suppression system installation,
    • Final punch-list and completion works.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to project designs and quality standards.
  • Coordinate daily activities between contractors, engineering and site management.
  • Monitor progress, schedules and contractor performance.
  • Resolve construction issues while maintaining strong relationships with contractors and local personnel.
  • Prepare progress reports and communicate effectively with the project management team and head office.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative site culture focused on teamwork and respect.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a practical Construction Manager who is well organised, calm under pressure and an excellent communicator.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Proven experience managing mining, industrial or infrastructure construction projects.
  • Strong civil construction and piping experience.
  • Experience supervising multiple contractors.
  • Excellent planning, coordination and communication skills.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build respectful working relationships across multicultural teams.
  • A hands-on approach to solving construction challenges.
  • Experience working in remote locations is essential.
Cold climate or Arctic construction experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential. Guidance and technical support will be provided by our head office.
This role is best suited to someone who leads through professionalism, organisation and communication rather than an authoritarian management style.

  • Rotation expected to be approximately: 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off, but can vary.
  • 12-hour workdays while on site.

Remuneration
  • Effective hourly rate: C$70.00 per hour
