Want to bring ideas to life?

You’re in the right place. We’ve been a leading design, engineering and advisory company for decades. So why choose Aurecon? It really comes down to one, crucial question: what kind of world do you want to create for the next generation? Truth is, the decisions being made right now will determine the future of everything – from the local community to the sustainability of our clients’ businesses – to the entire planet. One of those decisions is: who do you decide to work for?

Shape the future of our planning practice.

We're looking for an experienced planning professional ready to step into a management role and take on greater responsibility for project leadership, client relationships and team development. This is an opportunity for a mid-to-senior planner to lead the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects, contribute to business development and play an active role in building our planning capability across all markets.

About the Role

You will be a core member of our Environment and Planning group, taking a leading role in the delivery of statutory and strategic planning services across our key markets – energy, water, government, aviation, transport and resources. You will manage large-scale, multidisciplinary projects from inception through to approval, bringing together technical expertise from across the business to deliver integrated planning outcomes for our clients.

Beyond delivery, you will be instrumental in growing our pipeline – supporting bids and proposals, developing client relationships and helping to position Aurecon as a trusted partner for complex planning work across all sectors.

What You'll Do

  • Lead project delivery – manage the end-to-end delivery of multidisciplinary infrastructure and precinct-scale projects across statutory planning, regulatory approvals, strategic planning, feasibility and environmental assessment
  • Drive business development – support the identification and pursuit of new opportunities, lead and contribute to winning new work and strengthen our presence across all markets
  • Build our planning capability – contribute to the growth and development of the planning team, including mentoring junior planners and supporting the expansion of our statutory and strategic planning offering
  • Advise clients with confidence – guide public and private clients through complex legislative requirements, approval pathways and planning strategies, building trusted relationships across the project lifecycle
  • Connect the business – draw on the breadth of Aurecon's technical expertise to deliver genuinely integrated, multidisciplinary planning advice that goes beyond traditional planning consulting

What You'll Bring

You are an experienced planner with a solid track record across both statutory and strategic planning, and you're ready to take on more – more leadership, more client ownership and more responsibility for outcomes.

  • Experience in urban, environmental or infrastructure planning, with demonstrated leadership in statutory and strategic planning contexts
  • Proven project leadership across large-scale, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects – you have led teams, managed client relationships and delivered results on complex projects
  • Business development experience – you have contributed to winning work and building client relationships
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks – you understand how planning and environmental legislation applies to major infrastructure projects and can navigate approval pathways with confidence and credibility
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills – you can engage and advise at a senior level and bring internal and external stakeholders along on complex technical and strategic challenges
  • A commitment to developing others – you actively support junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in urban planning, environmental planning, or a related discipline

Why This Role

This is a genuine step-up opportunity within a growing service group. You will have real responsibility for projects, clients and people – with the support of senior leadership and the resources of a large, multidisciplinary firm behind you. If you are ready to step into a role where your experience, networks and ideas can shape something meaningful – we want to hear from you.
