This position will play an important role in the design and development of BOXABL's innovative modular building systems and products. The Architect will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, construction, and product development teams to create functional, efficient, code-compliant architectural solutions that support BOXABL's mission of making high-quality housing more affordable and accessible.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving manufacturing environment and translating architectural concepts into practical, scalable building solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead architectural design from concept through construction documents, producing drawings and models that are accurate, coordinated, and ready to build or manufacture.
- Develop and maintain our Revit standards, including families, templates, and BIM workflows, so designs carry consistently into production.
- Design modular and prefabricated housing and building systems, accounting for unit dimensions, transport limits, crane and set logistics, and factory assembly sequences.
- Coordinate with structural, MEP, and other consultants, and with factory and field teams, to resolve conflicts before they reach production or the site.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, zoning, accessibility standards, and modular-specific requirements such as state-approved plan review and third-party inspection programs.
- Prepare and stamp (or oversee stamping of) permit-ready drawings within the scope of your licensure.
- Support client, municipal, and agency reviews, including responding to plan check comments.
- Evaluate materials, systems, and details for cost, constructability, and performance, and contribute to design-for-manufacture-and-assembly (DfMA) improvements.
- Mentor designers and drafters, and review their work for quality and consistency.

- 3+ years of professional experience in architectural design and project delivery.
- Working knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), and accessibility requirements.
- Ability to coordinate with consultants and manufacturing teams and to manage multiple projects at once.
