Principal Duties and Responsibilities – Essential Functions

  • DESIGN REVIEW & BUILDING ENCLOSURE CONSULTING
    • Primary responsibility of the position involves preparation and review of construction design documents primarily related to the Building Enclosure as a 3rd party reviewer or preparation and review of the design components related to the Building Enclosure. The position is responsible for maintaining billable hours as directed by your immediate supervisor.
    • Assist your supervisor and be readily available with mentoring and training newly hired production employees.
    • Actively pursue and participate in continuing education opportunities to further your knowledge of the industry, which includes achieving certifications within the industry.
    • Maintain your personal production calendar to effectively manage and staff all required projects.
    • Act as a primary client contact on various projects as directed by your immediate supervisor.
    • Other duties may include, from time to time:
      • Manage ongoing construction projects in accordance with BECI policies and procedures.
      • Attend periodic planning meetings to discuss with the client their needs from the firm and our ongoing involvement. During these meetings note any issues or resolutions and schedule future site visits.
      • Conducting field investigations and completing the field investigation reports.
      • Assist with the development and analysis of electronic data related to the business of the Company.
      • Perform field testing in accordance with referenced industry standards.
      • Monitor and oversee the information technologies, technological equipment of the Company.


Job Requirements:

  • Although you may be hired and assigned to report to a branch office, many of our clients are countrywide, so you must be willing and able to work out of town. This includes, but is not limited to, periods of staying out of town, travel on commercial airlines, traveling in rented vehicles, and staying in company provided lodging.
  • Agreeable and willing to work in an office environment, as well as, in the field and on job sites as necessary to perform job responsibilities. While this position is intended to be more office based, the percentage of time working in the office and out in the field can/will vary.
  • Working outdoors in all types of elements, with the proper attire, for a full workday.
  • Capable and willing to work from and climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • Capable and willing to work form and operate swing stages, manlifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
  • Be ready, willing, and able to perform manual labor tasks associated with BECI field testing and as directed by your immediate supervisor.
  • Possess or be willing to gain knowledge in the use of general hand tools.
  • Ability to lift over 40 pounds, without assistance.
  • Authorized, with a current license from the DMV in the state you reside, to operate a motor vehicle, that may be company provided, rented, or personally owned.
  •  Go above and beyond, when necessary. The Work week being Monday-Friday with hours of 7:30 am - 5:30pm Monday-Thursday and 7:30 - 11:30 am Friday; however, business needs/project assignments may dictate longer days. In this regard, we ask that you complete the task at hand in its entirety even if the hours exceed normal business hours.
  •  Obtain and maintain licensure with the Louisiana Architects Board. File and provide BECI a copy of the Architect’s Business Entity Report Form and notify your supervisor anytime changes occur, and a new form is submitted to the Board or other state reporting agencies.


Job Qualifications:

  • Education (required): Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited 4-year University (Preferably: Engineering, Construction Management and/or Architecture).
  • Certification (preferred): Achieved from recognized construction and building envelope related organizations such as: IIBEC, Inc., CSI, ACI, ASCE or Registered Architect and AIA Certificate shall be maintained throughout your employment.
  • Experience (required): minimum of five (5) years of work experience in Architecture with some of this experience related to the Building Enclosure industry.
  • State License: Licensed Architect with the State of Louisiana and other states, as deemed necessary.
