Purpose of the Role and Scope of Responsibility: Prepares for and teaches Architectural Technology courses and conducts studios as assigned by the department chair of the Architectural Technology department.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Teaches and evaluates assigned lecture and studio classes. Plans daily activities for students in lecture and studios. Supervises students for both lecture and technical project grades.
- Instructs students about safe practices in the studio and carpentry shop, maintains a safe worksite, and enforces Ranken's safety standards.
- Assists in the maintenance of lab and classroom equipment.
- Assists management with developing curriculum and syllabi, scheduling, budgeting, hiring, and other duties.
- Participates in college governance, committee work, student advising, etc.
- Participates in available training to keep current in Architectural Technology.
- Assists in maintaining requirements of industry standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned by authorized individual.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge/Education/Experience
- M-ARCH degree required.
- Three years or more of residential or commercial architectural design experience.
- Working knowledge of architectural design and drafting principles.
- Community college or technical school teaching experience preferred.
- Excellent presentation skills including strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to motivate students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
- Computer literate in MS Office.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and other digital graphic software.
