Job Summary: The goal of the Associate Real Estate Developer is to support the Lead Developer in the planning and execution of mixed use and multifamily development projects. They assist Lead Developers on complex projects and ensure they run smoothly from start to finish. Associate Real Estate Developers often complete the day-to-day tasks involved in planning and implementing a project. This includes coordinating with vendors, monitoring budget spending, creating proformas, finding solutions, and collaborating with other team members to move the project forward. 

This job requires building productive relationships with key stakeholders and partners through effective communication. In addition, it’s critical that the candidate is someone that is highly organized and adept at prioritizing tasks. Often, this position is managing critical timelines, budgets, and tasks impacting critical development timelines. We want to add great people and understand that not all applicants will have a background in development. We believe that development can be taught - passion and drive cannot. 

Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

An Associate Real Estate Developer has a wide range of responsibilities, which include but are not limited to: 

  • Coordinate all phases of real estate development projects. Assist with decision-making about planning, design, permitting, financing, construction, and marketing. 
  • Attending project and OAC meetings, taking notes, and ensuring follow-up tasks are completed; attending meetings in the absence of the Lead Developer and report on decision-making. 
  • Prepare, track, and update project timelines and budgets. 
  • Create, organize, and maintain comprehensive project documentation. 
  • Prepare and submit grant and state applications. 
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with vendors, clients, lenders, and other stakeholders. Manage contracts, ensure timely deliverables and task assignments. 
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other consultants to ensure compliance with project timelines and budgets. 
  • Establish relationships with local businesses and community leaders to promote new developments. Engage with the community, attend public meetings, and address community concerns to build project support. 
  • Refine systems, procedures, and processes to streamline project workflows. 
  • Assist in the ongoing operations and maintenance of existing buildings, ensuring facilities remain in optimal condition and comply with contractual agreements and city standards. This includes emergency requests that may come in from staff. 
  • Assist in any additional projects as assigned by the executive team. 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in real estate, construction management, urban planning, business administration, finance, or a related field is preferred. An understanding of construction and real estate terminology and best practices is preferred. 


Training & Experience: Professional experience in real estate development, construction, architecture, property management, or a related field. Familiarity with affordable housing programs, such as LIHTC, is preferred.  


Skills:

  • Project Management - Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, track progress, and ensure timely task completion. 
  • Communication – Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and third parties. 
  • Technical Proficiency – Experience with Excel, Procore, Asana, and other project management systems. 
  • Attention to Detail – Highly organized with the ability to notice any discrepancies in documentation and contracts. 

Schedule: Time is often split between office settings and site visits. The ideal candidate is able to adapt to project demands, including occasional evening or weekend work.

Compensation

Wage range between $19-$23/hour
