City Planner

Job Description Summary:

The City Planner creates and manages the delivery plan that allows drivers to be in the proper areas to make pickups.

Critical Job Functions:

• Create city driver delivery plan through Routemax.
• Communicate with appointment clerk for more accurate planning.
• Communicate with Dispatcher and Dispatch Supervisor so delivery plan allows drivers to be in proper areas to make pickups.
• Follow through with delivery plan by working beside the Inbound operations supervisor to ensure all shipments are being loaded for delivery.
• Communicate with drivers and dispatcher to work through any delivery issues so they can be corrected for future deliveries … accurate receiving times, equipment needed, customer needs, accurate customer contacts, special circumstances.
• Address all safety issues while doing dock walks, which include safety observations, coaching, and corrective action when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• 3 years of LTL or transportation industry experience.
• Geographic knowledge of the ATL metro area preferred.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Communicates internally with all corporate office staff, and externally with terminals, line haul contractors, law enforcement, and customers.
• Proficient computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments.

• Physical Demands:
  • Heavy physical activity performing strenuous daily activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, reach/handle items, work with fingers, have color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and talk and hear others in conversations via the phone or in person.
  • The employee is occasionally subjected to odors from the dock area and lifts objects up to 100 lb.
• Work Environment:
  • The noise level is loud based on multiple printers and forklifts running outside of the door.
  • Work in outdoors and indoors shop environment with adequate ventilation.
  • Might be required to occasionally work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), near fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibrations, and outdoor weather conditions.

Compensation:

• The compensation for this role is $23.00 to $25.00 per hour.
