Introduction

SASSO Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a leading construction company seeking a Civils Construction Manager with strong, current experience in civil infrastructure projects.

This is a site-based role suited to a hands-on professional currently working on roads, bulk earthworks, pipelines, or water infrastructure projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Site Leadership & Execution

  • Lead all on-site civil construction activities
  • Manage subcontractors, plant, labour, and site teams
  • Ensure productivity targets and milestones are achieved

Programme & Planning

  • Develop and manage construction programmes
  • Monitor progress against critical path
  • Implement recovery strategies where required

Commercial & Cost Control

  • Monitor site costs and labour productivity
  • Manage variations, claims, and site instructions
  • Work closely with Quantity Surveyors

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to specifications and engineering standards
  • Conduct inspections and manage defect resolution

Health & Safety

  • Enforce OHS compliance across site
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety audits
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with clients, engineers, and consultants
  • Lead site meetings and reporting

Desired Experience & Qualification

⚠️ Strict Requirements (Non-Negotiable):

  • Minimum 7+ years as a Civils Construction Manager / Site Agent
  • Minimum 10+ years total experience in civil construction
  • Current experience on civil infrastructure projects including:
    • Roads
    • Bulk earthworks
    • Pipelines
    • Water and sanitation infrastructure
  • Proven track record managing large-scale civils sites

Essential Skills & Knowledge:

  • Construction programming & scheduling
  • Subcontractor management
  • Quality assurance & control
  • Health & Safety compliance (OHS Act)
  • Cost control and site financial management
  • GCC contract knowledge (essential)

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to work on site across South Africa
  •

Package & Remuneration

R500,000 – R750,000 per annum (depending on experience)
