As a Construction Manager 2 at LANL, you will play a pivotal role in the successful execution of major infrastructure projects that directly support national security and scientific innovation. You will ensure efficient coordination and operation across construction engineering, controls, and contracts administration, helping maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance on-site.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Organize and oversee construction operations related to engineering, controls, and contract administration.
  • Ensure construction teams are properly staffed and aligned with project goals.
  • Coordinate between multiple project teams and departments to ensure smooth workflow and consistent communication.
  • Provide timely support services to active construction projects.
  • Implement and enforce consistent construction engineering standards and best practices across all jobs.
  • Plan and manage phases of complex projects, including problem-solving for unique engineering and construction challenges.
  • Support senior management with policy development and strategic planning.
  • Conduct research and contribute technical input on intricate construction issues.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and coordination skills within a multidisciplinary project environment.
  • Proven ability to manage and support multiple large-scale construction efforts concurrently.
  • Experience working in secure environments and handling sensitive or classified information.
  • Ability to work fully onsite with occasional travel home allowed at manager discretion.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with federal construction projects or highly regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with DOE/NNSA or LANL procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction engineering principles, project controls, and contract administration.
  • Certification or licensure in a technical or construction-related field is highly preferred.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with 10+ years of experience, or
  • Master’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional registration or certification is typically required in technical disciplines.
