Construction Manager – C&I Solar (NorCal)

Greater Sacramento Area | Field-Based
Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM + additional hours as needed

Job Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for leading the execution of commercial and industrial (C&I) solar projects across Northern California. This role provides oversight of field operations, workforce management, and project execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

This is a management-level position with primary responsibility for directing field teams and driving project performance - not a hands-on installation role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction activities across multiple active job sites
  • Lead and manage Superintendents and field teams, ensuring accountability and performance
  • Serve as the escalation point for field issues, risks, and problem resolution
  • Maintain oversight of project schedules, labor allocation, and budget performance
  • Monitor labor productivity and approve timekeeping and reporting accuracy
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Safety, and leadership to ensure alignment and progress
  • Ensure materials, equipment, and resources are available to support project execution
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with all regulatory and company requirements
  • Provide regular project updates, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions
  • Support hiring, workforce planning, and development of field teams

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years leading commercial solar installations (250kW+ required)
  • 3+ years managing field teams and project schedules
  • Advanced experience with Procore
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams of 10+

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical license (strongly preferred) 
  • AutoCAD experience

  • Strong understanding of commercial solar construction and regulations
  • Proven leadership and team management capability
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-demand environments

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (occasional)
  • Comfortable working in active construction environments, including rooftops
  • Travel as required for project oversight
  • Valid driver’s license and clean MVR
  • Reliable transportation
