Position Summary

ISI is seeking two (2) full-time onsite Construction Managers to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) at the Tampa VA Medical Center for Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Infrastructure Upgrades.

The Construction Manager will provide construction-phase oversight support for EHRM-related projects at Tampa VAMC. The two Construction Managers shall alternate shifts to ensure onsite coverage whenever the General Contractor is working.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide construction-phase oversight support
  2. Track and monitor submittals and RFIs
  3. Review submittals and provide written recommendations
  4. Monitor construction schedule and progress
  5. Perform construction inspections
  6. Document deficiencies and track corrective actions
  7. Monitor long-lead items
  8. Review and verify as-built documentation
  9. Support testing and commissioning activities
  10. Prepare and submit daily inspection reports
  11. Participate in project meetings

Work shall be performed onsite and may require approximately 60 after-hours days per year to align with contractor operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four (4) year degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field and seven (7) years of experience in management of facility construction projects OR Fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification or ability to complete withing 60 calendar days of hiring
  • Experience in healthcare construction is required, with active healthcare facility construction preferred
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this Federal contract
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust (NACI)
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Tampa, FL
  • Ability to support after-hours work as required

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience supporting IT/low-voltage infrastructure projects
  • Experience supporting healthcare infrastructure projects
  • Experience working in active hospital environments to include implementing infection control procedures
  • Experience supporting phased construction to maintain hospital operations

Preferred Requirements:

  • VA HVAC/Electrical/IT Infrastructure upgrade projects preferred
  • VA Hospital design/construction experience preferred
  • Experience with Florida construction and codes preferred.
  • VA Design Guides/Manuals, Specifications, and other applicable standards preferred

  • Full-time, onsite at Tampa VA Medical Center.
  • Approximately 8 hours per day. Work shall be performed onsite and may require approximately 80% normal business hours and 20% off-business hours (5 PM to 5 AM EST) per year to align with contractor operations.
  • Must be required to occasionally move and lift 20-30 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb, erect and maintain balance on a 30-40 pound ladder.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary computer position for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk up to 1.5 miles per day between buildings.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be willing to work in external environments of rain, high heat and significant cold.
  • Must be able navigate active construction sites containing uneven ground, debris, and active construction hazards such as sharp objects, electrical hazards, and potential fall hazards.
  • Must be able to occasionally go into confined spaces and crawl.
