Our client is seeking a strong and experienced Construction Manager / Site Agent to oversee civil construction projects in the Western Cape. The ideal candidate will have proven site-based management experience across infrastructure projects and the leadership ability to drive projects safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate day-to-day civil construction activities on site.
- Oversee project execution from site establishment through to completion.
- Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Monitor construction progress against programme, budget and quality requirements.
- Ensure construction methods and activities comply with project specifications and applicable standards.
- Manage resources, materials, plant and labour effectively.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Identify and resolve construction issues and site constraints.
- Maintain accurate site records, reports and project documentation.
- Liaise with clients, consultants and other professional team members.
- Promote and maintain strong health, safety and environmental standards.
- Support effective project planning and reporting.
Requirements
- BEng, BSc, BTech or National Diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- 5–8 years’ experience in civil construction management.
- Proven experience managing civil infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to pipelines, earthworks, roads, concrete works and reservoirs.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods and SANS 1200/GCC.
- ECSA or SACPCMP registration would be advantageous.
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management software, particularly MS Project.
- Strong leadership and site management capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
- Ability to manage multiple project priorities and meet deadlines.
- Valid driver’s licence.
