Project Architect - Architecture and Engineering Firm - Base Salary to 120k/year - Rochester, NY
Our client is a well-established multi-disciplinary Architecture and Engineering firm with over 40 years of experience delivering transportation, commercial, and institutional projects across New York State. With multiple office locations and a strong reputation for quality and client service, they are seeking a Project Architect to lead architectural design, documentation, and coordination for complex multi-discipline projects. The Project Architect role offers leadership responsibility, mentorship opportunities, and involvement throughout the full project lifecycle from design through construction administration.
Responsibilities:
Lead architectural and multi-disciplinary projects, coordinating with internal teams, consultants, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
Prepare and oversee complete architectural documentation for client approvals and state/local permitting
Review drawings and specifications to ensure design accuracy, code compliance, and firm standards
Collaborate closely with Project Managers to track progress, staffing needs, and deliverables
Supervise and mentor junior team members, supporting professional development and performance
Develop redlines and oversee implementation by architectural staff
Maintain meeting notes, documentation, and project communication records Perform construction administration duties including RFIs, submittal reviews, shop drawing evaluations, and addenda issuance
Coordinate workload assignments and ensure efficient project execution
Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and resolve design or field issues
Assist with change orders, value engineering, field reports, and project close-out documentation
Qualifications:
Education: NAAB-accredited 5-year architecture degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Experience: 10+ years of architectural design and documentation experience
Licensure: Licensed Architect in New York State (or ability to obtain reciprocity)
Technical proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, and energy compliance software
Strong knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, and construction administration
Compensation:
Base salary in the 80k - 120k/year range
