At Carrier Johnson + Culture (CJ+C), we are fueled by creativity, curiosity, and collaboration. Our team champions a user-first approach that pushes design boundaries and fosters innovation. Our work spans multifamily residential, hospitality, mixed-use, and commercial projects of varying scales and complexities, delivered through collaboration, technical rigor, and thoughtful leadership. As a Senior Interior Designer, you will partner with clients, design leaders, project managers, and interdisciplinary teams to bring thoughtful, high-performing interior environments to life.

Your Role

As a Senior Interior Designer at CJ+C, you will lead the development and delivery of interior design projects, contributing across multiple projects simultaneously. You will play a key role in translating design concepts into coordinated, buildable solutions while maintaining design intent from early concept through construction.

With 10+ years of experience, you are a producing leader who combines strong design sensibility with technical expertise. You are comfortable operating across both design and delivery, contributing to spatial strategy, user experience, and documentation with equal clarity. Your ability to align design vision with execution makes you a critical contributor to project success and team performance.

What You Will Do

  • Lead interior design efforts across all phases of projects, including programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
  • Actively produce and oversee high-quality drawing sets including plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, millwork, and detailed interior assemblies.
  • Develop and coordinate interior solutions that align with project goals, budgets, schedules, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate internal teams and external consultants including architecture, MEP, lighting, and specialty disciplines to ensure seamless integration of interior scope with base building systems.
  • Guide projects through code compliance and regulatory requirements including CBC and ADA standards.
  • Oversee construction administration including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, conducting site visits, and maintaining design intent and quality.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Design Leaders on budgeting, scheduling, resource management, specifications, and overall project delivery.
  • Integrate FF&E documentation within the broader construction documentation set, ensuring alignment between design intent, procurement, and installation.
  • Uphold rigorous Quality Assurance and Control standards across drawings, specifications, and deliverables.
  • Contribute to conceptual design, space planning, and user experience strategies, particularly within hospitality and multifamily residential projects.
  • Collaborate with design leadership to support development of design narratives, material strategies, and experiential concepts.
  • Apply strong design judgment to detailing and technical solutions to reinforce overall design intent.
  • Mentor and guide junior and intermediate designers, supporting both design and technical development.
  • Participate in client coordination and presentations, clearly communicating design and technical solutions.
