- Carrier Selection and Shipment Planning:
- Run “Order Fulfillment Workbench” for all distribution centers. Consolidate orders appropriately to save costs.
- Evaluates and select carriers based on cost, service quality, and reliability.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with carriers.
- Sets up and manager ad hoc transportation requests and freight quoting.
- Schedules pickups for EXWORKS loads.
- Communicates and escalates issues with shipments or carriers as they are discovered.
- Freight Spend Control:
- Minimizes freight costs while maintaining high service levels.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders such as Purchasing, Distribution, and Sales to reduce total landed costs through creatively optimizing logistics networks, order patterns, routes, and truck capacity utilization.
- Reports on key logistics KPI’s such as cost per LBS shipped, cost per mile, cost per unit shipped, on-time pickup rate, on-time delivery rate, damage rate, etc.
- Finds areas for freight cost savings.
- Shipment Planning and Execution
- Responsible for planning loads for internal inventory moves such as Plant to DC, and International Plant to Plant; all based on inventory requirements.
- Plans daily requirements for the DFW logistics network.
- Primary escalation point for logistics excursions.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain, with a focus on freight and carrier management, international freight, and plant to DC, and last mile delivery.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Strong history of problem solving and process development.
- Has a strong bias for decision making based on robust data analysis.
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership capabilities and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Fluently speak, read, and write in English
- Spanish bilingual a plus
- Skilled use of computer, Internet, and shipping company websites.
- Basic Math Skills
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs repeatedly
- Ability to work in a loud environment
- Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment
- DOT 49CFR certification
- 3-5 years experience in a fast paced distribution environment
- Required travel as needed
