Introduction

The Architectural Specifications Manager drives brand specification across the coastal belt. You will secure
architectural specifications for Youngman roof sheeting, insulation, and building envelope products. You will
protect these specifications from design stage through site handover across the Western Cape and Eastern Cape regions.
Geographic Territory

  • Western Cape: Full coverage including the Cape Metropole and Winelands.
  • West Coast: Coastal strip extending north from Cape Town towards Namakwa.
  • Eastern Cape: Coastal belt extending through to East London.

Duties & Responsibilities

Architectural Engagement

  • Secure product specifications early in the design phase.
  • Conduct technical presentations and CPD seminars for architects.
  • Provide accurate technical data, wind-load calculations, and details.
  • Build long-term relationships with leading architectural firms.

Specification Protection

  • Track specified projects from design stage to site handover.
  • Defend specifications against cheaper alternatives proposed by contractors.
  • Influence Quantity Surveyors to maintain specified product budgets.
  • Collaborate with approved roofing contractors to ensure correct installation.

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Monitor regional construction pipelines using industry tracking databases.
  • Report on pipeline metrics, conversion rates, and substitution risks.
  • Analyze competitor product offerings, pricing strategies, and market positioning.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Education & Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or Construction.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial building product specification experience.
  • Proven track record selling roofing, insulation, or building envelope systems.
  • Existing network of active commercial architects and interior designers.

Skills & Competencies

  • Deep understanding of building regulations and structural engineering basics.
  • Ability to read complex architectural drawings and construction blueprints.
  • Strong negotiation skills to counter substitution pressure from contractors.
  • Excellent public speaking skills for technical product presentations.
