About the Opportunity
This position provides direct oversight of commercial solar construction projects throughout field execution and installation activities. The role is responsible for managing subcontractors, coordinating daily site operations, enforcing quality standards, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring compliance with construction documentation and safety requirements. The Construction Manager serves as the primary field leader responsible for translating project plans into successful project delivery. Extensive travel is required to support regional and national project activity.
What You'll Do
- Manage subcontractors to ensure projects are completed according to plans, specifications, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
- Direct daily field operations involving labor, equipment, materials, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Review and interpret construction drawings, schematics, contracts, schedules, permits, QA/QC documentation, and technical specifications
- Monitor project progress and document delays, field changes, and RFIs
- Maintain quality control standards throughout project execution
- Perform load calculations and support field-based technical decision making
- Coordinate with permitting authorities, inspectors, public works officials, fire departments, and other regulatory entities
- Assist with field installation activities when required
- Enforce OSHA, MSHA, company safety policies, and electrical code compliance
- Support project completion, punch-list execution, and turnover activities
- Travel extensively to active construction sites throughout assigned territories
What You'll Need
- Minimum two years of construction management, field supervision, or solar construction leadership experience
- Experience managing commercial solar projects of at least 1MW capacity
- Experience with electrical underground conduit installation and terminations
- Experience managing subcontractors and self-perform construction activities
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders
- Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems and applicable electrical codes
- Understanding of OSHA and/or MSHA safety requirements
- Ability to perform construction-related load calculations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work in active construction environments and travel up to 75-100%
