Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Site Construction Management & Operations
Provide direct on-site management, control, and coordination of all mechanical, civil, and high-voltage
electrical construction activities, ensuring delivery aligns perfectly with technical drawings and
specifications.
Track construction milestones and critical path actions dynamically to fulfill commissioning windows
under Eskom / NTCSA infrastructural modifications.
Administer engineering contract structures (NEC3/NEC4), manage site instruction changes, verify
progressive invoice measurements, and mitigate contractor bottlenecks seamlessly.
2. Safety (SHEQ) & Technical Quality Governance
Enforce a rigorous, zero-compromise site safety culture in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Construction Regulations, and Eskom’s high-risk safety files.
Govern site quality assurance targets by auditing and progressively signing off formal Inspection and Test
Plans (ITPs), method statements, and structural tolerances.
Coordinate with grid Control Officers, Safety Advisors, and Project Engineers to execute safe system
testing and asset turnbacks without unexpected network impacts.
3. Client Liaison & Completion Documentation
Act as the principal engineering technical interface on site for Eskom Inspectors, Clerks of Works, and
local municipal utility counterparts.
Direct the systematic compilation and formal sign-off of final Quality Data Books and hand-over packs to guarantee complete regulatory closure.
