Introduction

The primary responsibility of this position is to plan and execute multidisciplinary design and construction projects and oversee their progress in a timely and cost-effective manner in accordance with contract requirements. Knowledge and experience in delivering commercial, medium to large-scale mixed-use and residential projects. This role is ideal for a technically strong architect who thrives on shaping impactful spaces, leading teams, and driving projects from concept through to delivery with confidence and precision.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead project delivery, ensuring quality, programme and budget alignment.
  • Translate design intent into coordinated, buildable documentation, maintaining high technical standards.
  • Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including consultants, contractors, and specialist service providers.
  • Drive project execution: programme planning, deliverables tracking, risk management, and issue resolution.
  • Prepare and oversee technical drawings, specifications, schedules, and tender/construction documentation.
  • Conduct and lead client meetings, design presentations, and stakeholder engagement with professionalism.
  • Oversee site processes including inspections, reporting, snagging, and contract administration support.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to strengthening studio systems, standards and workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards and best practice (SANS, local bylaws, etc.).

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Relevant qualification in Architecture: M.Arch / B.Tech / BAS (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 10 years’ post-qualification experience, with at least 5 years in a project-leading role.
  • Proven portfolio experience in commercial architecture, including medium to large-scale mixed-use and residential projects.
  • Strong technical capability and demonstrated experience managing end-to-end project documentation and coordination.
  • Solid understanding of professional practice, construction detailing, statutory processes, and site delivery.
  • Confident leadership style with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while taking full ownership of project outcomes and technical delivery.
