We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering and construction group with over 25 years of operational history and a strong footprint across Africa. Our client delivers turnkey electrical, civil, mechanical, instrumentation and telecommunications engineering solutions, 


They are looking to appoint an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Construction Manager to lead site execution on current and upcoming projects, with specific emphasis on overhead line construction and MV/HV reticulation.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Role
  • Manage E&I construction projects from mobilisation through to handover — on time, on budget and to specification
  • Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors and multidisciplinary interfaces across greenfield and brownfield projects
  • Oversee construction, installation and repair of overhead lines and MV/HV reticulation networks (up to 132 kV)
  • Manage installation of MV switchgear, mini-substations, Ring Main Units, and MV joints/terminations
  • Drive HSE compliance and quality assurance across all site activities, in line with ISO 9001/45001 standards
  • Act as the primary technical and client-facing point of contact on site, resolving construction constraints, technical queries and schedule risks
  • Coordinate QA/QC inspections, testing, punch list close-out and project handover
What We're Looking For
  • Proven track record as a Construction Manager / Superintendent within E&I construction, ideally within an EPC/EPCM or turnkey contracting environment
  • Demonstrable, hands-on experience in overhead line installation and/or repair — this is a non-negotiable requirement, not a nice-to-have
  • Solid working knowledge of MV/HV reticulation, switchgear, substations and related electrical infrastructure
  • Strong contractor and subcontractor management experience, with the ability to manage multiple workfronts simultaneously
  • Relevant technical qualification (Electrical Engineering / Electrical Trade Test / equivalent), plus current HSE certifications (e.g. Working at Heights, Construction Regulations)
  • Willingness and ability to work on project sites across South Africa and the broader African continent
  • Valid driver's licence and passport; own transport advantageous
