As a Transportation Planner, you will be essential in ensuring the seamless movement of freight shipments while optimizing both cost and efficiency. If you excel in problem-solving, logistics coordination, and working in a fast-paced environment, this opportunity is for you!  

 

The role is day based but may require some work to be done on nights and weekends, if needed.  

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound trucking, including ocean container shipments.
  • Dispatch third-party carriers for customer and port deliveries, ensuring on-time departures that meet delivery deadlines and port cutoff schedules.
  • Collaborate with warehouse personnel to monitor scheduled shipments for on-time loading and delivery.
  • Quickly address transportation issues, notifying supply chain and customer service of delays and implementing solutions to minimize service disruptions.
  • Analyze carrier performance based on on-time delivery, rejection rates, and adherence to equipment requests.
  • Leverage SAP system and related tools, along with freight forwarders, to drive cost-effective logistics solutions.
  • Support transportation needs during off-hours (evenings/weekends) as required to ensure smooth operations.
  • Enhance logistics efficiency by analyzing workflow, optimizing distribution, and improving inventory management processes.
  • Develop and refine procedures to maximize customer satisfaction while minimizing costs.

 

Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • At least one year of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility to be on-call occasionally for urgent transportation matters.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and drive process improvements.

 

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Three or more years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP in a logistics or supply chain environment.
  • Knowledge of domestic trucking regulations, international trade, or ocean freight logistics.
  • ASCM/APICS certification or related professional training.
  • Experience handling chemical hazardous materials in a logistics setting.
